A generation grew up with children's programs on Nickelodeon, with popular series such as Drake & Josh, iCarly, The Amanda Show, Victorious, and Zoey 101. Several renowned actors, actresses, and international singers have come out of those series, like the case of Ariana Grande, for her character as Cat in Victorious.

It is not new that Nickelodeon programs have been involved in controversy due to constant rumors and statements made by former industry employees to expose mistreatment and abuse by producers, especially the well-known case of Dan Schneider.

Recently, the well-known former Nickelodeon actress, Jennette McCurdy, who is best known for playing the character of Sam in iCarly and Sam and Cat, launched a new book under the title "I'm Glad My Mom Died," where she not only exposed impressive details of her private life and abuse by her mother, if not, it also reveals the mistreatment at Nickelodeon and Dan Schneider by mentioning him in her book under the name "the creator."

Even though Dan Schneider was known to be unreliable for years, Jennette's book raised another wave on this very topic and has caused people to speak out, like Alexa Nikolas, best known for her character as Nicole Bristow in the children's series Zoey's 101, who has joined this movement and spoken out.

"I DIDN'T FEEL SAFE AT NICKELODEON"

The actress Alexa Nikolas went to the outskirts of the Nickelodeon offices accompanied by many protesters. They raised signs with the legends "Nickelodeon did not protect me," "Eat Predators," and "Sickelodeon," in addition to carrying some photographs of various executives, including Dan Schneider, who was referred to as “The creator of childhood trauma.”

Years ago, Alexa Nikolas revealed that her experience at Nickelodeon was quite traumatic. She had exposed before her bad relationship with her former co-workers on Zoey 101, especially with Jamie Spears (Britney Spears's sister), who was the series' protagonist.

Here's a video where Alexa Nikolas reveals more about her experience with Jamie Spears and denies Spears' statements in her latest book:

And not only that, in an interview for TMZ, Alexa Nikolas said that she never felt safe within Nickelodeon. She also assured that when she turned 18, they forced her to drink and received multiple unwanted messages from an executive, who also offered her a large sum of money for her silence; the actress defined her experience within the children's channel as traumatic.

According to the same demonstration, she and the group demanded that the channel's confidentiality agreements be reviewed since apparently they are abusive against minors and prevent them from speaking or saying some things and experiences that can be traumatic or frustrating at their young age.

In case you're wondering, Nickelodeon has done nothing in the face of the complaint by Jennette McCurdy or Alexa Nikolas; their only action was to distance themselves from Schneider in 2018 after the producer was involved in controversy over the MeToo movement, for inappropriate behavior and of abuse.
