New information from Ubisoft’s long-awaited pirate game Skull and Bones dropped today in a “extensive” gameplay posted by IGN. The video covers most of the in-game features from sailing physics to exploration and even more.

The game which launches in November is an open-world online, so prepare to spend hours and hours discovering every little detail in this world. Actually, the dev team itself mentioned that the exploration experience was their primary focus.

A little bit of realism

Sailing involves a big quantity of water, which according to the dev team was one of the most complex deals in the game, the interaction of this element is different from subject to subject as physics properties like buoyancy and drag affect how different the objects move. For example, in the case of ships, each one will feel different.

On the other hand, the weight of items in your ship and the direction of the wind will also be important factors to work with. Like in real life you should be careful about how the weather affects your ship, as the game will feature diverse weather systems, including supercell storms, and how well you make it through storms will depend on how your ship is built, equipped, and customized.

Long story short, Ubisoft’s main goal was the creation of an authentic pirate experience, even on-land mechanics will follow these rules, sadly you should know now that not every island is explorable so maybe the most developed mechanics are in the offshore side.
