Konosuba: Megumin spin off releases its first trailer

Megumin's past is set to be revealed in the first trailer for Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Bakuen Wo!

A trailer has been released for the Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Bakuen Wo! (KonoSuba: An Explosion on This Wonderful World!) anime, announced in May along with Season 3, placing the premiere sometime in 2023.

In the trailer, we can see a younger Megumin going through what seems to be a traumatic but critical moment in her development and a character that could be the origin of the Arch Wizard's love for explosion magic.

Bakuen is a novel written by Natsume Akatsuki that was illustrated by Kurone Mishima. Between 2014 and 2015, Kadokawa published three books. From 2016 to 2017, Kasumi Morino's manga adaptation of the spin-off was published in 5 volumes.

In a comedy plot, the plot focuses on Megumin's clan, the Crimson Magic Clan (and explosions) - the Japanese name is a pun on "explosion of fire" and "explosion of laughter."

Takaomi Kanyasaki, director of the main anime, is also directing here, for the Drive studio, along with Yujiro Abe (Great Pretender). Makoto Uezu is also back on script, as he does with the main series. Rei Takahashi is another name returning from the main series, in the voice of Megumin.

Natsume Akatsuki's novel series Kono Subarashii Sekai ni Shukufuku Wo!, or simply KonoSuba, debuted in 2013. Aside from the manga and game, it was adapted into an anime by Deen studio, with 20 episodes divided into two seasons, and a film by J.C. Staff studio, which was released in 2019.
