This sudden news might not surprise anyone, given the poor reception by critics and audiences. Netflix has officially cancelled the live-action series based on Capcom's popular video game franchise Resident Evil.
Unfortunately, the TV adaptation had little to do with the video games and only lasted one season. The Deadline website broke the news a few hours ago.
The cancellation of the #ResidentEvil series came after it fell out of the @netflix Top 10 altogether after only three weeks. https://t.co/V2XKEvjY6l

The first season consisted of eight episodes and debuted on Netflix in July. The series was announced in 2020 and had to progress slowly due to Covid.
Resident Evil follows the exploits of Jade Wesker, the daughter of longtime saga villain Albert Wesker, between the years 2022 and 20236.
Jade must fight for survival in a world overrun by bloodthirsty infected and psychotic creatures, haunted by her past in New Raccoon City, her father's disturbing connections to the Umbrella Corporation, and most of all because of what happened to her sister, Billie.
Lance Reddick, who has appeared in Fringe and John Wick, played Albert Wesker. Ella Balinska, Tamara Smart, Siena Agudong, Adeline Rudolph, Paola Nuez, Ahad Raza Mir, Connor Gossatti, and Turlough Convery also starred in the show.
Recently, showrunner Andrew Dabb discussed the possibility of Lady Dimitrescu (another beloved character in the franchise) appearing in a hypothetical second season, but this will not happen now.
