Here are the Highlights of Gamescom 2022 Opening Night!

In case you missed it, don’t worry we got you covered

Gamescom 2022 just started! And oh boy, its Opening Night Live kickoff ceremony was filled with incredible announcements, world premieres, new gameplays, you name it, the two hour event reveled a lot, and this time a live audience was there… so, the hype was real.

Now, if you didn’t had the time to watch the conference, don’t worry here are the highlights of the event, so you don’t stay behind.

Hosted by Geoff Keighley the event opened with the announcement of Everywhere the long awaited project headed by Leslie Benzies, ex-lead developer at Rockstar. If I’m not mistaken this game has been in development since 2016 and even back then was as ambiguous as it is now, however its first look, gave us a promising glimpse of everything Everywhere can be.

On the other hand, launch dates for many games were confirmed, first of all Return to Monkey Island officially arrives on September 19, on Nintendo Switch and PC, also they shared a new trailer, which for the first time has shown us its gameplay.

Sonic Frontiers also shared (again) its release date which is expected to be November 8 of this year. Along with this announcement they published a new trailer, with more details and new gameplay scenes.

New Tales from the Borderlands also announced its arrival date on October 21, so be ready to see more from the Borderlands world with a standalone story with a trio of losers as protagonists: Octavian, Fran and Anu. Keep an eye open as it will arrive on PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Dying Light 2 also announced its first major story expansion: Bloody Ties which will arrive on October 13 and includes a brand new location The Carnage Hall. As well, Moonbreaker a turn-based sci-fi game will be out for Early Access on Steam September 29.

Gameplays, gameplays and more gameplays

We got to see new footage from many games among them Homeworld 3, the third installment of the space strategy game that is making everyone dying from excitement, besides an amazing gameplay trailer, the good news are that you can wishlist the game now as it will be out in the first half of 2023.

On the other hand The Callisto Protocol, showed more of its fantastic gory space craziness, remember it will be released on December 2, 2022 so, we are close to behead aliens very soon.

Last but not least, Dead Island 2 closed the event, however it gave us a good 2-minute long gameplay trailer that had to censor some of the “gruesome” images, the zombie-survival game is expected on February 3 of 2023, however you can pre-order it now.

The announcements, the revivals, the emotion!

One of the most talked announcements were the new version of the PS5 controller, called DualSense Edge, a "customizable, high-performance" pad. This new design is very very VERY customizable with changeable stick caps, back buttons, and more.

Another, unexpected but interesting announcement was the Mini x Pokémon collab, yes! A Pokémon car, can you believe it? We neither. The electric car was just teased and no prize or availability was mentioned.

On the other hand we got our fair share of new games, the convention surprised us with The Lords of the Fallen revival, an incredible reboot for the 2014 game is in the works and expected for 2023. Dune: Awakening also premiered a new trailer so you can sign up for its  beta testing or wishlist it already on Steam.

We also got a glimpse for Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, based in the 80’s horror movie… ah, those were the times. The game has a 3v7 asymmetric mechanic, it arrives on 2023 and we can’t be more excited for it.

Gotham Knights showed off an amazing villain trailer and surprised us with the big news, the game will be available earlier than expected, on October 21. Last but not least The Outlast Trials shared a new trailer full of blood and amputations in order to announce its closed beta which take place from October 28 to November 1st, 2022.

This is all the ones we think will be the most discussed announcements this week. Do you think we need to highlight another one? Share your favorite ones in the comments below.
