It was in 2017 when Nintendo finally released The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, an incredible franchise video game where they surprised us with a great open world and new gameplay. It was a great novelty to have left the traditional way of playing a Zelda game that had been that way for more than 30 years.
The new title of the franchise was so innovative back then that it won the award for best game of the year at the 2017 Games Awards and inspired many later games such as Genshin Impact.
Now a sequel awaits us, being this one announced at E3 2019, fans are anxious and speculating all kinds of theories for what is to come in that next story, but have you not felt that we had waited a long time for that new game?
If you have felt that it has been a long wait, it is because it has been so. We confirm it because a user published a list with the days of waiting between the franchise's main titles.
You will see below that it starts with The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and ends with the days that have passed without the arrival of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2.
Here you can see it:
Interestingly every console 3D Zelda game released has taken longer than the last.

Time between...
OoT and Mm: 523 days
MM & TWW: 960
TWW & TP: 1437
TP & SS: 1825
SS & BotW: 1932
BotW and today: 1995
If this trend continues the next "3D" Zelda game would release in ~2029
Remember that the first installment also had a long wait; however, its sequel has surpassed it, now being the most extended wait. It is also because, although the open world is already developed, let us remember that in its sequel, it will be even more significant to explore since we will also have a new map in the skies.
It only remains to be patient and wait for more news about the title while its launch arrives at some point in 2023 for Nintendo Switch.
When do you think the series will be released? Tell us in the comments.
