And just like that, out of nowhere on what looked like another calm August Sunday, HBO decided to shock the world by releasing the very first glimpse of its long-awaited The Last of Us TV series. Now, that's big news!
The first-ever footage of The Last of Us TV Series
A few moments ago, HBO Max through its official channels presented a special video in which it shows some of the great series coming to the platform. Unexpectedly, the video ends with a preview of The Last of Us series, in a sequence showing Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey as Joel and Ellie, respectively, trying to survive the dangers of this post-apocalyptic world.
By now, chances are you've already heard about the demise of HBO Max. Although that is true, it will only be a merger with another platform, so the previously announced projects continue as planned, such as this series.
And if what you just saw excites you, we are going to elevate your expectations even more. Immediately after HBO shared this footage thrilling fans of the series, The Last of Us co-creator and Naughty Dog president Neil Druckmann said the following via his Twitter:
You ain’t seen nothing yet.

Just in case you need a little more hype heading into the series premiere.
In case you don't know, the official synopsis is as follows:
"The story takes place 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie, a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival."
The Last of Us TV series is expected to debut on HBO sometime in early 2023.
