2022 have been an exceptional year for video games with incredible titles that players have fallen in love with. One of them is Elden Ring which besides being a critical success had also an excellent commercial performance.
The FromSoftware and Bandai Namco title managed to ship millions of copies in a matter of days and broke records on Steam and well, its popularity seems to have no end as the game it is still going strong and selling very well even if it was released at the beginning of the year.
The greatest project by FromSoftware
In its most recent financial report, Bandai Namco announced that Elden Ring sold a staggering 16.6 million units since its debut at the end of February. In may the company reported 13.4 million copies sold at that time.
However it shipped approximately 3.2 million copies in the last quarter, because of this the Japanese company had a good performance during the last quarter. According to information shared by GameBiz, game sales amounted to ¥40.5 billion yen, representing an increase of 54.5% compared to the same period in 2021.
If you were not sure if the open-world video game is the most successful project in FromSoftware's entire history, think twice. This figures prove it once again and seems like its popularity is not going to decrease any soon.
Although the title enjoys a good commercial performance, the publisher forecasts a general drop in profits during the current fiscal year due to the absence of "major" releases and ongoing development investments. However, investors remain optimistic, something that is reflected in the company's healthy stock.
