Dead Island 2 release date and more details have been leaked

Amazon did it again

Leaks are pretty common in the video game industry, and you should know that very well if you check the news daily. Dependent mostly on the source they come from, some are more reliable than others.

On this occasion, the "leaker" in question is none other than Amazon, the e-commerce giant, who has published the pre-order page for Dead Island 2 in advance, revealing very important details, including its release date.

Ready for early next year

As far as the release date is concerned, according to Amazon Dead Island 2 will be released on February 3, 2023. Usually, placeholder dates are related to a particular quarter, like March 31 or December 31. On the other hand, the games are usually released on a Thursday or Friday, and it turns out that February 3 is a Friday. So, it looks like a real date, right?

Another aspect that this leak reveals to us is the cover of the game, which you can see below in its version for PlayStation 4:

What can we expect from the sequel?

Going into details about the game, it is indicated that it would be located in the city of Los Angeles, with multiple locations, including Beverly Hills and Venice Beach.

We will have six eligible characters known as Slayers, each one with its personality and dialogues, with fully customizable abilities.

It is said that the game will feature a new progression and management system, which will allow us to experiment and develop any type of character that we want. An option that seems more than welcome, giving us more freedom of choice compared to the original Dead Island.

Finally, Amazon mentions that there will be a day one edition that will come with some perks for those who pre-order the game or buy it on launch day. These extras include the Memories of Banoi Pack - Banoi War Club and Baseball Bat, the "Balanced" weapon perk, and the "personal space" skill card.

With such detailed information, one would imagine that an official announcement from Deep Silver could be just around the corner. Gamescom, maybe?
