One of the most controversial titles this year is undoubtedly Overwatch 2. Since its first beta launch, we have been reporting all kinds of news about the game, from its change to a free-to-play game to fans wondering, “Overwatch 2 should have been an update?

However, although the next Blizzard title has had all kinds of comments, many fans are already waiting for its release.

Something that has been said about this sequel is that it would have cross-progression. If you play Overwatch 2 on one platform, your progress, statistics, and unlocked content will not be lost when you want to play the title on another platform.

Blizzard confirmed that the hero shooter has now cross-progression. To play the multiplayer game, you need a Battle.Net account, regardless of whether you play on a PC or console. If this stays the same, you'll be able to link them all into one Battle.Net profile.

This will allow all your progress, stats, rank, and items from the original installment to carry over to Overwatch 2.

It is important to note that you can combine your PC, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox accounts, but only one account per platform will be included. In a post on the game's website, Blizzard clarifies that players should ensure they link the correct profiles for each console to Battle.net before merging.

Did you make a mistake and link the wrong account? You can unlink it anytime, but you will have to wait an entire year. Therefore, it is best to perform the procedure correctly from the beginning. You can read the relevant instructions and more details on this page.

In the FAQ section, Blizzard clarifies that account merging will be the only way console players can access and carry over their progress from the first title to Overwatch 2. Furthermore, progress will automatically carry over to Overwatch 2, the PC version's sequel, so users of the said platform do not have to worry.

Remember that the cross-progression is active from Tuesday, August 16, so you can now combine your accounts to prepare for the launch of the second installment.

Overwatch 2 will be available for PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, and PS5 starting October 4.
