ONE PIECE FILM: RED have made 7 Billion Yen at box office so far!

Even though the opinions are very polarizing

ONE PIECE FILM: RED was one of the most anticipated releases of the year mainly in Japan where a lot of pre-events were held in honour of the 25th anniversary of the manga and the film premiere and rightly so! This was the fifteenth film from the franchise.

If you weren’t aware, the film premiered last August 6 in Japanese cinemas and seems like no one in the far east wanted to miss this movie. With only ten days in cinemas, the flick has made over 7.06 billion yen or 53 million dollars with over 5 million people attending.

In Japan, this has been called a “record of a different dimension.” Attracting 1.57 million people in its first two days and a box office revenue that exceeded 2.25 billion yen by August 13 the revenue exceeded 5 billion yen.

A great success but…

The film is now the most successful One Piece movie in the franchise even though the reviews are extremely polarizing. According to the Japanese movie review website, Eiga, the film has an average of 2.9 stars with 27% of reviews with 5 stars and 23% of only one.

Most of the reviews focus on the musical aspect of the film which some have loved and many others had disliked to such a level that they have called the movie “disappointing”.

So far the movie has been released in Japan and France but is expected to arrive in Taiwan on August 19, in China on August 21 and in other territories such as North America, Australia, and New Zealand, UK, Ireland and Crunchyroll on Fall 2022.
