It is common for creatives to draw inspiration from great works or to incorporate specific elements into their own if they believe it is more convenient to create something unique In the entertainment industry.

It used to be more common for developers to draw inspiration for video games from movies, and thanks to the evolution of the electronic entertainment industry, filmmakers are increasingly incorporating elements of video games into their films, with the most recent example being the new Predator film, Prey.

Prey premiered on August 5, and what piqued our interest was that the project's director felt inspired by one of the most iconic PlayStation 4 titles.

If you're thinking God of War, you are correct. The title not only seemed like a great game to Prey's director, Dan Trachtenberg, but he used a couple of elements to bring two of the film's main characters to life. We now know what he was referring to, thanks to a Cassius Life interview.

When asked about the video game's influence, Trachtenberg revealed that it was the weaponry, not the narrative or Kratos' "boy," that influenced Prey.

The filmmaker specifically mentioned the most obvious one, the shield. Kratos can use his Guardian Shield in the Nordic adventure, which debuted with this installment and has the unique feature of being retractable.

This reference is evident for anyone who has already watched Prey. In it the movie, the predator has a shield that can also be deployed when this creature wants to protect itself.

The other influence is notable in Naru's tomahawk, who can retrieve it after throwing it thanks to a rope that connects the two. The filmmaker confessed that what inspired him to create this in the movie was the Leviathan Axe, Kratos' primary weapon in the video game.
