Veteran gamers will recall the first Alone in the Dark, a game developed by Infogrames (Atari) that arrived on our computers in 1992 and became an instant classic as the precursor to the survival horror genre, which gave birth to sagas such as Resident Evil and Silent Hill.
Now, it appears that the game will resurrect, as a French store seems to have published the Alone in the Dark file ahead of time, a remake of the first installment that Pieces is developing by Interactive and distributed by THQ Nordic, which owns the license and will hold an event tonight to officially announce the remake.
On the store's website, we can read a complete game description in which it is made clear that "we will revisit the classic survival horror Alone in the Dark. This love letter to the cult ’90s game will take you through a story that’s as sinister as it is memorable through the eyes of one of the two protagonists."
“Playing as Edward Carnby or Emily Hartwood, explore the various environments, fight monsters, solve puzzles and discover the terrible truth about the mansion of Derceto.''
“You will encounter strange occupants, nightmarish kingdoms, dangerous monsters, and uncover an evil conspiracy. At the confluence of reality, mystery, and madness, the adventure that awaits you risk undermining your certainties. Who are you going to trust, what are you going to believe, and what are you going to do next?”
Seems a website posted a bit early the thing I was teasing a few days ago, indeed Alone in the Dark 1 is being remade in the style of RE:2. Be announced properly later today. Southern Gothic Horror w/Lovecraft. Story by the guy who wrote SOMA & Amnesia: The Dark Descent. pic.twitter.com/IqpWK6JwkN

This is not the first time this week that we have discussed Alone in the Dark. Despite the French store's excellent job of leaking this information, on August 9, Twitter user AestheticGamer1 informed us that the remake is in the works.
We do not have more information about the game yet, but THQ Nordic is hosting a digital showcase today at 3 pm ET / 8 pm BST, so the game will most likely be revealed then.
