Rumor: Pac-Man live-action movie in the works!

The Sonic movie’s producer might be working on it

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bandai Namco is currently working on a film adaptation of the classic Pac-Man franchise. And it appears they do not want to do it in an old way. Bandai is interested in making a live-action adaptation, according to the report.

Pac-Man is owned by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The title first saw the light in the United States in 1980, and as you may know, it puts you in the shoes of a circular and yellow being who eats dots while avoiding ghosts on each level.

We don't know how Bandai Namco intends to create this adaptation. After all, Pac-Man isn't the company's most narrative-driven franchise, and the fact that it's a live-action film adds to the mystery. What would the character's appearance look like? We currently have no information in this regard.

Pac-Man has not stepped into the big screen in a solo movie. The saga has two animated television series, one produced by Hanna-Barbera and the other by Disney XD. However, the franchise had not dared to go any further until now.

Bandai Namco has a good chance of succeeding with this Pac-Man adaptation. After all, Sonic the Hedgehog set a record for the biggest movie debut of a video game franchise, grossing an estimated $57 million in its first weekend in the United States and totaling $319 million. Its sequel went even further, grossing an estimated $71 million in its premiere.

Several production companies are already working on the adaptation. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Wayfarer Studios' Justin Baldoni, Manu Gargi, and Andrew Calof will produce the film. For Lightbeam Entertainment, Chuck Williams and Tim Kwok will produce the film.
