We explain about the merger of HBO Max and Discovery+

One of the most surprising news recently was the merger between HBO Max and Discovery +. However, all kinds of doubts and rumors have arisen regarding this change; therefore, we will guide you in explaining this merger and how it would affect the service consumer.

WHAT'S GOING ON WITH HBO MAX?

According to a report by The Wrap, Warner Bros. Discovery is planning a complete rethink of its business strategy because it probably didn't turn a profit this year, or so David Zaslav's income statement is believed to reveal. Warner CEO.

To give you an idea, HBO and HBO Max have 76.8 million subscribers, and Discovery + has only 24 million.

In case you don't know, there is the streaming platform Discovery+ where you can find the content library of its channels and original series. The platform is focused on unscripted content, such as docuseries and reality TV. And now Discovery has the networks Animal Planet, HGTV, Food Network, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, etc.

Because of this, Warner Bros. Discovery plans to merge its HBO Max and Discovery + streaming services to consolidate all its content on a single platform, and thus "there is content for everyone at home."

Most likely, the new service will work as a hub where you can choose what you want to watch.

So far, there is still no name for this new platform or an approximate subscription cost. For the United States, the change is expected to be implemented in the summer of next year, 2023.

WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO YOUR HBO MAX SUBSCRIPTION?

For now, there is no confirmed information about the new HBO Max plan, but it is expected that there will be more clarity in this regard soon.

What would the restructuring of HBO Max look like?

According to a new report from The Wrap, the restructuring is focused on "returning to an old school system" in Hollywood; that is, they will put all their efforts into film productions over streaming ones.

In addition, HBO Max will stop producing content that was created with an original script; that is, it will stop producing series and movies such as Peacemaker, Pretty Little Liars, White Lotus or Gossip Girl and will create reality shows, talk shows, or local productions in other countries.
