Ed Boon denies a game reveal at the EVO 2022

EVO 2022, a new edition of the famous tournament dedicated to fighting games, will be held from August 5 to August 7. The show will feature announcements and reveals from companies such as Arc System Works, Warner Bros. Games, Capcom, SNK, and Bandai Namco Entertainment. Will Mortal Kombat 12 make an appearance?

Unfortunately, MK12 will not be present, according to Ed Boon, co-creator of the series, who responded on Twitter to an IGN USA message confirming that a new title will not be revealed at the EVO to make way for Street Fighter, and other major fighting games.

WB Games' presence will probably be limited to MultiVersus, which has become incredibly successful since its beta released on July 19, reaching a peak player count of 144,456.

Despite not revealing a new title, Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is among the games available for competition, alongside Street Fighter V Champion Edition, Guilty Gear Strive, Tekken 7, The King of Fighters XV, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and GranBlue Fantasy Versus.

According to the latest rumors, Mortal Kombat 12 might be a reboot and will see the light in 2023. However, NetherRealm never confirmed this.

Mortal Kombat 11 is the latest entry in the franchise. It came out on April 23, 2019. The game is available on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
