Destiny 2's studio rethinks its communication with players due to a series of threats received

If you've noticed there is less Destiny 2 news or information from Bungie compared to how players were targeting players before, you are not wrong.

While waiting for the Destiny Showcase scheduled for August, its developers have confirmed that communication with users has decreased considerably.

Dylan Gafner (Dmg04), Comunity Manager at Bungie, has given about it on Reddit in response to a person who asked about it. He assures that they are rethinking communications for a reason: they have received real threats from some users in recent weeks.

“Here’s the thing, the harassment we’ve spoken to isn’t just rude replies on Twitter or vague comments,” Dmg04 wrote. “There have been real threats towards our people and our studio.”

“We’re taking them seriously, which is leading to an amount of reduced communications as the team plans future protections/strategies to help avoid these sorts of things'' He added.

“I will be very clear in saying that I appreciate the studio in the amount that’s it’s helped me personally after some serious harassment towards me and my family. I’m taking time off in part because of this. Just because you can’t see it directly in a given tweet or forum reply doesn’t mean that it didn’t happen.”

At Bungie, they continue to read the positive messages and requests from players, but Gafner speaks of a grave situation. Developers and their families have experienced harassment, prompting them to take a temporary break.

The studio recently took legal action against a player who made these types of threats, which means they are taking the situation very seriously.

While all this is happening and we wait for the August event, Bungie members continue to work after being acquired by PlayStation, a purchase that should not change how Destiny 2 operates since it will not become exclusive to Sony consoles despite the operation.

The game and its most recent event, Solstice, can be enjoyed on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
