Steam decided to play the 'you can't see me' card on us and delisted almost all WWE 2K titles in the store over the weekend without warning.

Video games with official licenses from other media or sectors will not be eternal and have a shorter availability time, the same situation with sports deliveries that generally move with the expectation of the latest version.

That means that from one moment to another, previous installments from a franchise can disappear without prior notice from online platforms, and it seems that is the case with WWE 2K.

Reddit user Popstasia realized that only WWE 2K22 and WWE 2K Battlegrounds are left on Steam, meaning all other games of the franchise are gone.

Apparently, this happened a few weeks back, but the Steam pages of the games that got removed still exist. WWE 2K17, WWE 2K18, WWE 2K19, and WWE 2K20 have been removed from Steam. 2K Sports did not report this situation, causing gamers to speculate what happened.

What is the reason for the withdrawal of these entries?

It could be a licensing situation since wrestlers' entrances use musical themes from famous groups and singers, so 2K Sports does not have the rights, and the licensing arrangements are in force. Reddit users that commented on Poptasia's post also believe that the developer wants to force us to buy the newest title.

Others think it could be a warning about a possible change of direction in WWE games, as gamers rumored that a potential arrangement with EA Sports was happening after the disaster that was WWE 2K20, but the franchise stabilized with this year's installment.

However, the most plausible reason is that WWE 2K19 and 2K20 announced the end of their online servers back in May this year. The company probably just decided to terminate them entirely.
