Bungie will reveal future plans for the game

Bungie has announced that a Destiny 2 digital event will take place on August 23. This showcase will show how exciting the future of the game is going to be, and players expect that they reveal details of the next expansion, Lightfall.

Through Bungie's Twitter account, the company showed a video with key moments from the Light and Darkness saga. The event will take place a year after the announcement of the 2021 expansion, The Witch Queen, which came out in February.

The studio announced Lightfall two years ago when Bungie reiterated that there was no need to make a sequel so soon. We do not know the details of this paid expansion (the base game is free to play) that should release in early 2023.

Of course, the developer is now part of PlayStation. The $3.6 billion purchase deal was closed last week, and the studio will lend its online gaming know-how to Sony, which is trying to expand its games-as-a-service roster. However, future Bungie games will continue to be cross-platform (PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC) and will not even have temporary exclusivity agreements with PlayStation consoles.

On the other hand, Bungie made a deal with NetEase, and they're working on an original Destiny mobile game, which will be a shooter, but not just a port of Destiny 2.

Are you excited about the showcase? Let us know in the comments!
