God of War: Ragnarok will offer multiple render modes

According to British online retailer ShopTo

The PlayStation 5 edition of God of War: Ragnarok will have two render modes, UK store ShopTo revealed in a promotional Email sent to its customers. We'll be able to switch between full 4K resolution at a targeted 30 frames per second or dynamic resolution upscaled to 4K at a targeted 60fps.

Neither PlayStation nor the Californian development studio has confirmed this information, which is missing the fine print in performance mode anyways.

The dynamic 4K that we see in new games can be appreciated very differently if the common denominator is a high resolution like 1800p (which Horizon Forbidden West works at, for example) or if it varies between 1080p and 4K.

By now, this seems pretty standard fare for a cross-gen game, yet that doesn't mean this will remain static for Krato's newest adventure. First-party PlayStation titles such as Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart previously received post-launch patches that added different graphics options.

Collector's Edition pre-orders start today

This Friday, July 15, Sony will begin the pre-order campaign for the two most special editions of God of War: Ragnarok; the Collector's Edition and the Jötnar Edition, and will include the base game for both PS5 and PS4. The title will be available in stores on November 9th, 2022.

Will you pre-order any of these special editions? Let us know in the comments!
