If you own Assassin's Creed Liberation HD on Steam you better hurry up and play it, because Ubisoft has requested its removal from the platform and it will be effective from September 1st. The decision not only affects the availability of the game in the store but even those who have purchased it will lose the right to access this installment of the saga.
This move is related to the dismantling of Ubisoft's multi-game online services, a decision recently announced by the French company that alerted gamers that many online games would no longer be available on various platforms. On PC, this measure also affects the DLC of some of its older games, which will lose access to their downloadable content as well.
Will other Ubisoft games be discontinued?
At the moment, it seems like Assassin's Creed Liberation HD will be the only game that will be completely inaccessible on computers, while other installments in the Assassin's Creed saga will lose access to their DLC and online features. but they will still be playable.
Given the controversy caused by this decision, of which the community itself has become aware, Ubisoft has stated in response to VGC: "We did not decide to withdraw services from old Ubisoft games lightly, and our teams are evaluating all the options available to those players who will be affected by it when the online services of these games are deactivated on September 1, 2022", explains the company, although it does not share the reasons that have led it to make this decision or specify whether other games will be affected in the same way as Assassin's Creed Liberation HD.
The title is still available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360, and PC.
