Through the official website for the anime adaptation of the manga written and illustrated by Aki Hamaji, Bocchi the Rock!, it was revealed that the project has its premiere scheduled for next October in Japan. A new promotional image for the series starring the show protagonists was also released.
This anime adaptation will feature the voice talents of:
- Yoshino Aoyama as Hitori Gotou.
- Saku Mizuno as Ryou Yamada.
- Ikumi Hasegawa as Ikuyo Kita.
- Sayumi Suzushiro as Nijika Ijichi.
Keiichirou Saitou (Boogiepop wa Warawanai (2019), The iDOLM@STER SideM, Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On) is in charge of directing the anime at CloverWorks studios, while Erika Yoshida (Kami no Tou, Omoi, Omoware, Furi, Furare) is in charge of writing and supervising the scripts, and Kerorira (Shiroi Suna no Aquatope, Darling in the FranXX, Endro~!) is in charge of character design and animation direction.
In December 2017, Hamaji began publishing the manga through Manga Time Kirara Max magazine. The publisher released the second compiled book volume in February 2020, followed by the third on February 25, 2021. The fourth volume will be coming out on August 26, 2022.
What is Bocchi the rock! about?
Hitori Gotou dreams of forming a band, but she's too shy to even make any friends. She learns how to play guitar in hopes of maybe someday achieving her goal. Things begin to change in her favor when she meets Nijika Ijichi, a drummer that happens to be looking for a new guitarist for her band.
