Toei Animation presented a brief teaser of the film production

At the beginning of 2021, the mangaka Takehiko Inoue confirmed on his social media that Slam Dunk, the popular 90s basketball anime, will return with a new animated feature film from the Toei Animation studio. After more than one year of waiting, we are already learning the first details.

THE FIRST SLAM DUNK WILL DEBUT THIS YEAR IN JAPAN

During the past weekend, those responsible for this film production shared an official poster and revealed that the first trailer would debut this week. On July 7, the first official trailer premiered on YouTube.

Here is the video:

Unfortunately, the footage of just a few seconds does not reveal much about the plot arc that covers this film baptized as The First Slam Dunk. Still, we do see Hananichi Sakuragi, Hisashi Mitsui, Takenori Akagi, and Kaede Rukawa for a few moments.

Judging by the preview, the film will use CGI, that is, computer-generated animation. It is no secret that all enthusiasts of the anime industry do not like this technique. It will be interesting to find out how fans react if 3D models are used.

Finally, the official trailer revealed that The First Slam Dunk would debut on December 3, 2022, on Japanese soil. Unfortunately, Toei Animation did not confirm its premiere in the West, so we will have to wait to find out if it will reach our territory.
