The first gameplay of Pac-Man World Re-Pac is here!

The brand-new Pac-Man story has surfaced, and it’s everything we want it to be

As you may remember, Pac-Man World Re-Pac was recently announced during the Nintendo Direct Mini (Partner Showcase) as a renewed version of the one we used to play on PS1. Last week, the first sneak peeked of the game was presented at Anime Expo 2022. It may not look like a big deal, but it is. The reimagined version of Pac-Man is something to look forward to. In this case, we now know what the Toc-Man boss fights will be like. Also, we got a glimpse of the landscape and environment the game will display. And last but not least, a demo revealed Pac-Man morphing into a large ball resembling his traditional appearance to take out enemies.

The game is still figuring some stuff out, though. During the event, the host mentioned, "Maybe sometimes Pac-Man would unfairly fall off of ledges. We’re fixing that”. Oh, and from the looks of it, if you complete Quest Mode, you will be able to unlock the original Pac-Man game!

The only downside to this game is that Ms. Pac-Man won’t make an appearance. The character was utterly removed from the game due to a “royalty issue.” According to Video Games Chronicle, “the original trailer for the remake instead shows off Pac-Mom, a replacement character that Bandai Namco has used in recent games. Ms. Pac-Man has always caused issues regarding royalties – the character isn’t an official Namco creation and was instead created by Midway (who had been given the rights to produce Pac-Man products in North America). As a result, GCC is reportedly owed royalties any time Ms. Pac-Man has appeared in Bandai Namco products.”
