The second test period of the Blizzard title did not match the success of the first

This year and especially these last few months, we have received a lot of news about Overwatch 2, the title that will be coming soon on October 4 of this year.

Despite all the controversies this sequel has generated, Blizzard Entertainment held a special event that announced the second Overwatch 2 Closed Beta release date, where console users could now also participate.

This test period began on June 28; however, it seems the community was not very enthusiastic about it.

In case you didn't know, when they announced the game's first Closed Beta in mid-April, it was a hit during its first few days, garnering over 1.4 million concurrent viewers on the Twitch platform.

This is not surprising; since the title had been announced for many years, it was to be expected that with a large community, it would become a trend to be able to try the long-awaited title. Add to that the fact that to gain access to the beta, users had to watch live streams for a set of 4 hours to get the Twitch drop.

Even with all that hype and good results from the first days of the first Closed Beta, just a week after its release, the popularity of Overwatch 2 fell by up to 99% on the Amazon platform.

Now with the second Beta between us, we see that the free-to-play title remains far from the most popular categories of Twitch. Is the community not interested?

THE CLOSED BETA DID NOT MUCH INCREASE INTEREST IN OVERWATCH 2 ON TWITCH

As we see on the statistical site SullyGnome (via Dexerto), Blizzard's free-to-play hero shooter failed to reach 100,000 concurrent viewers on Amazon's platform. We barely noticed an increase in the audience on the graph after the premiere of the second test period.

All of the above does not necessarily mean that the video game's Beta is not successful on the streaming platform. According to data from SullyGnome, there was an increase on all fronts: from average viewership to viewing hours. Likewise, the number of content creators who broadcast the title in recent days increased.

It is important to note that users cannot gain access to the Beta this time by watching live streams, which undoubtedly contributed to the decline in viewers. Blizzard wanted to compensate for this absence with a new exclusive skin that can be obtained by donating subscriptions to a select group of streamers.

But tell us, what do you think of this situation? Let us read you in the comments.

Overwatch 2 will be available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X | S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch starting October 4.
