Any kind of unpaid help will do the trick to finishing the upcoming IP

The Day Before is right now one of the most popular titles that could come to Steam this year. But it turns out that it has a very particular element going on. The studio responsible for the upcoming apocalypse game, Fntastic, has recently announced that they’re open to receiving volunteers on their development team. GamesRadar states, “Open-world zombie MMO The Day Before is currently the most wish-listed game on Steam, but its developer seemingly needs more manpower to get it out the door.”

On Fntastic’s website, the situation gets a little more clarity, being that more than seeking help, the studio is inviting people around the world to volunteer. The program offers two types of volunteering, full-time and part-time:

“Anyone can be a part-time volunteer to contribute to the Fntastic community and get cool rewards, participation certificates, and free codes. Part-time volunteering at Fntastic includes various activities ranging from translating to community moderating. Part-time volunteers can also offer unique skills to improve our projects or create new special features.”

Since the developer’s team is based in Singapore, this program could’ve arrived with a less friendly translation to this side of the world, making it look like Fntastic was offering unpaid work for the wrong reasons. Nevertheless, the description for the part-time volunteering looks a lot like a job position that a professional could be filling instead of a not-so-professional volunteer: "Part-time volunteering at Fntastic includes various activities ranging from translating to community moderating. Part-time volunteers can also offer unique skills to improve our projects or create new special features."

Even though the volunteer program doesn't specify if it’s for The Day Before, it sure looks like it. Recently, the IP was delayed until next year, so it makes more sense to reach out for help for a game that didn’t come out when it was supposed to.
