The new horror game apparently has a similar story to the space classic

Dead Space has been a very important game to the horror fans. Many faced their truest nightmares in outer space, and for this, we have been truly grateful to Visceral Games. After five years, many fans hoped that another installment from the franchise, but instead something else came along.

Glen Schofield, the creator of Dead Space has joined forces through his own studio (Striking Distance Studios) and EA to bring back the good old days, in what supposedly is a totally different game. From day one, The Callisto Protocol reminded everyone of a renewed, but the not-so-original version of Dead Space. Many fans were confused being that both games were so similar, to the point of mocking the upcoming title. Is it a coincidence? Or is it just an homage to the popular horror game?

Schofield assures that after finishing The Callisto Protocol, you wouldn’t dare to compare them again.

Even though The Callisto Protocol will arrive on December 2nd, and it’s still a long wait until we get our hand on it, the horror game has been well received so far. For the most part, its popularity has come from the fact that the game is close to being finished, and the community has gotten a pretty good idea based on considerable previews. But the other half of the conversation is about how much it looks like a Dead Space weird remake.

During an interview with IGN, Schofield clarified that yes, both games are evidently similar to each other. But in the end, they are far from similar. The story, the characters, the universe, the narrative, the combat mode… everything is different. This way, at the end of the game, people won’t think any more about The Callisto Protocol as Dead Space 4.
