Squid Game quickly became a very popular and very controversial TV show. The South-Korean series went from pure fiction to a reality-check, to sketchy perversion and gore in one season. And it was awesome. Setting aside the ending that made some feel slightly disappointed, the whole story is truly one of its kind. Without a doubt, Squid Game set a milestone in Korean content globally.
And now, the fans have been waiting for a second season announcement since last, which was rumored to happen sometime this year. Luckily, Netflix has been kind enough to share some official news on its website. The director, writer, and producer for the first season made a brief but clear announcement regarding the second season of Squid Game:
It took 12 years to bring the first season of Squid Game to life last year. But it took 12 days for Squid Game to become the most popular Netflix series ever. As the writer, director, and producer of ‘Squid Game,’ a huge shout-out to fans around the world. Thank you for watching and loving our show. And now, Gi-hun returns. The Front Man returns. Season 2 is coming. The man in the suit with “ddakji” might be back. You’ll also be introduced to Young-hee’s boyfriend, Cheol-su. Join us once more for a whole new round.
Sadly, there is no release date or synopsis to hype about. But this message could mean that more info is on its way. Hopefully, soon.
