Fully upgrading your Diablo Immortal character can cost you up to $110,000

Yeah, I hope we were joking…

Diablo Immortal has been making headlines after its release for a variety of reasons, but the one that has surprised most people was something related to its micro-transaction model.

According to Game Rant, YouTube channel Bellular News’ recent video noted how with the use of very simple calculations, the game's unique monetization system is set up in a way that makes character min-maxing an exceedingly expensive venture.

Seems like Diablo Immortal allows players to buy Legendary Gems, which are one of the character’s progression pillars, the other ones being regular gear and XP level.

Freemium games being freemium games…

As of right now, players cannot earn Legendary Gems, as they are only available via some of the game's monetization options, and fully maxing out a character effectively costs $110,000 in the game's current economy. Obviously, the community is not happy, let’s say that Bellular News just said what many were thinking. Most of the comments in the video completely agree with them, calling these kinds of models “slot machines disguised as games”.

It wasn’t long ago when we reported that Belgium and the Netherlands prohibited the game thanks to their “No loot boxes” policies which after all this news sounds like it was a great idea.

We will leave Bellular News’ video below:
