In this day and age, gaming news shouldn’t have to be spreading mass shootings and racism. It’s sad and unfair to everyone affected by others’ decisions. But if we are writing about this, it’s because of respect because we don’t stand on the side of intolerance and hatred.
Yesterday, all the Star Wars community was excited about how Obi-Wan Kenobi series turned into the most watched on Dinsey+ on its premiere weekend. And even though this was a reason for celebration, it soon became an ocean of hatred.
Some people weren’t happy about Moses Ingram being cast as the villainous Inquisitor Reva Sevander. Yesterday, the actress shared via Instagram some of the messages she was receiving; some of them stated that she was a “diversity hire” and that no one would love her or remember her for the role.
It wasn’t too long before the official Star Wars accounts showed their support with a warm (and late?) welcome to Ingram into the galactic family. And a couple of hours later, the account also posted a video from Ewan McGregor, sending a heartful message to Ingram and reminding everyone what this is all about. After thanking everyone for putting the series on the top on its launching weekend, he proceeded to what mattered the most:
"Moses is a brilliant actor, she's a brilliant woman, and she's absolutely amazing in this series, she brings so much to the series and so much to the franchise and it just sickened me to my stomach to hear that this had been happening,"
"There's no place for racism in this world and I totally stand with Moses."

The debate has been going on since the Star Wars account made these declarations. About how ‘woke’ the saga has been since the very beginning, about how there have been essential BIPOC characters in the story, and how ridiculous this hatred is overall. Why is this conversation meaningful? Even though the hatred will probably keep coming, it’s crucial to stand out and speak up in the name of tolerance and acceptance.
