"There are more than 20 million sentient species in the Star Wars galaxy, don't choose to be a racist." These were some of the words they mentioned on the official Star Wars Twitter account defending their actress against a racist attack.

As many of us know, Star Wars fans are excited about the Disney+ launch of the Obi-Wan Kenobi series; however, it was not all good news. Unfortunately, the actress Moses Ingram, who plays Reva's character, has suffered harassment and racism on social media.

Many of the complaints are accusing the show of simply casting Ingram as an exercise in "filling the diversity quota," rather than her acting abilities.

Sadly, this isn't the first time the Star Wars cast has suffered racist attacks from those who claim to be fans of the franchise. However, Lucasfilm and Disney have come out in full support of Ingram this time.

This was the statement on the official Star Wars Twitter account:

This is so unfortunate and prevalent that Ingram previously revealed that Lucasfilm warned her about racist comments she could receive. However, the actress commented that the studio made it clear that it would support her should a hateful reaction arise. As you can see, the company kept its promise.

Sadly, in the middle of 2022, companies must still resort to strategies to combat people's hatred and racism. We applaud the studios for defending their actress and publicly condemning the negative attitudes that the franchise's viewers and "fans" have against the actress.

We hope that these hate attacks continue to be combated, that they decrease, and that the companies continue to raise their voices in defense of the victims.
