A new lead suggests that Activision's Call of Duty could arrive on Steam anytime soon. Ever since the franchise abandoned the platform in 2017, the game became a massive hit on Battle.net instead. But rumor has it that this could be heading back to Valve’s field later this year.
This week, Infinity Ward and Activision shared the coolest teaser for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 reboot with a confirmed release date and a new character design for the Campaign mode.
CALL OF DUTY BACK ON STEAM?
The official teaser undoubtedly teased more than the fans expected. Some of them have found the iconic mask of Simon “Ghost” Riley appearing as an advertising banner on Steam. Oddly enough, the banner proving this theory disappeared, and instead of the controversial image, a random blue space is shown. Luckily, many people posted screenshots online, and this way, we know it was real, even for a short moment.

The game hasn’t yet appeared as an official release on Steam for the time being. The banner could easily be a mistake by the marketing team (and what a mistake it was). It is still uncertain if the franchise will come back to Steam. We will have to wait and find out if this was on purpose or not.
