We have said it on several occasions: consoles need maintenance like any other type of hardware. However, sometimes we are careless and trust that nothing will happen to our systems as long as they are in a good place and still working.
One Xbox gamer got a nasty surprise for not maintaining his Series X. The system was having overheating problems, so he decided to open it up to see what was going on. As you can imagine, the hardware was in pretty bad shape. The gamer shared a photo that left the reddit community open-mouthed.

User DarthLigMauI made on reddit a post called “Clean your boxes at least once a year, guys”. This is a very valuable piece of advice, as the condition of his console is really pitiful and this caused problems in its operation.
The inside of the system is full of dust and remains of substances that adhered to various components. Hence the console suffers from overheating problems. DarthLigMauI shared a photo that surprised everyone, as it shows the poor condition of the Xbox.
As in other similar cases, players claimed that DarthLigMauI surely smokes while playing, as the accumulation of dust and dirt is not normal, even if the console has not been maintained for years.
Several players alerted the community and confirmed that frequent smoking in closed environments can damage various internal components of consoles and computers. This can sooner or later lead to overheating problems or worse.
Other people simply joked that the console looks like the inside of a cave. The community in general agreed that consoles should be serviced at least once a year. Below you can see the image:
